White
paper: CSTAF is pleased to announce the publication of the
white paper The Practice and Potential of Agroforestry in the Southeastern
United States. The paper provides a detailed overview of agroforestry in the
Southeast in terms of its current research and field applications. The paper
also draws upon opinion polls of Florida landowners and natural resource
professionals in Alabama, Florida and Georgia to assess current perceptions
of agroforestry. Also provided
is a list of important websites and other helpful resources for interested
readers. Authors are Drs. Sarah Workman and Sam Allen of CSTAF. CSTAF research publications: CSTAF researchers based at universities in the Southeast and the U.S. Virgin Islands are conducting research on alley cropping, tree-crop integration for horticultural production, silvopastoral systems, environmental benefits of agroforestry systems, economics of agroforestry, and on developing an internet-based agroforestry decision support system to help extensions agents and landowners. Publications documenting this research are listed on the research publications page. CSTAF extension publications: CSTAF research results are used to create extension publications with practical information for use by landowners and extension professionals. The University of Florida/IFAS maintains an extension publication management system called EDIS (Electronic Data Information Source). Clicking on the CSTAF extension titles listed in the first section will open the respective documents in EDIS. Additional CSTAF publications also are listed on this page. Conferences and presentations: CSTAF researchers are often called upon to present the results of their work at conferences and professional meetings, usually as short oral presentations or as posters. This section lists those events. Theses and dissertations: Part of CSTAF's mission is to support graduate students who do research on agroforestry topics. After graduation, these students will provide the expertise needed in the Southeast to research and promote agroforestry practices that respond to our unique and changing landscape. This section lists the titles of their CSTAF-supported Master's theses and Ph.D. dissertations. |
