Ellis Takes Position in Mexico

Eddie Ellis, the CSTAF post-doctoral researcher who developed the SEADSS program, has accepted a position as research scientist with Centro de Investigaciones Tropicales (CITRO) at the University of Veracruz, in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.

Ellis will conduct research related to land use land cover and mapping, land use planning, forest fragmentation, and climate variables related to forests. He also will assist in several ongoing agroforestry projects related to fruit production, ecosystem restoration and native trees in the Totonaca Region of Veracruz.

At CSTAF, Ellis developed and tested the Southeastern Agroforestry Decision Support System, a computer program to help extension agents and landowners determine the appropriate trees and shrubs for agroforestry use.
